Agriculture exports exceed US$33 billion in 11 months

The export revenue of agricultural, forestry and fishery products was estimated to reach nearly US$3 billion in November, raising the total export revenue to over US$33.1 billion in the first 11 months of 2017, up 13.8% over the same period in 2016.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the export value of key agricultural products was reported at US$17.27 billion in January-November period, an increase of 16% compared to the same period in 2016.

Meanwhile the export value of key fishery products was estimated at US$7.57 billion, up 18.3% and key forestry products posted a total export value of US$7.2 billion, up 10.4% over the corresponding period last year.

Rice is among the agricultural products reporting increases in both export volume and value with the export volume estimated at 5.49 tonnes in 11 months, up 23.4% and export value estimated at US$2.48 billion, up 24.2% over the same period last year.

China remained the largest importer of Vietnam's rice which accounted for nearly 40% of Vietnam's rice exports.

In the meantime, exports of rubber, cashew nuts, tea, cassava products, and vegetables and fruits continued to expand in both volume and value.

The US, the Netherlands and China are leading importers of Vietnam's cashew nuts, accounting for 63% of Vietnam's total cashew export revenue while Japan, China, the US and the Republic of Korea are the largest importers of Vietnam's vegetables and fruits.

Some products saw declines in export volume and value including coffee and pepper.

During the 11-month period, the import value of agricultural, forestry and fishery products was posted at US$25.21 billion, an increase of 13.6% over the same period in 2016.
