The Ceremony to welcome the first oil flow from Su Tu Nau Mine (Brown Lion)

PVEP held a ceremony to welcome the first oil flow from Su Tu Nau (Brown Lion) and Su Tu Vang Tây Nam (Southwest Golden Lion) mines - 15.1 Lot in Ho Chi Minh city. Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai attended the Ceremony.

Su Tu Nau mine is located offshore in about 180km from Vung Tau city southeast, belonged to 15-1 Lot of Cuu Long JOC Operator. The exploiting object is basement layer with separate structure and large cracking systems on the Southwest of the mine, developed at the center of the large convex creases under influence of the internal tectonic movement.

Cuu Long Joint Stock Operation Company (Cuu Long JOC) is a joint venture company between PVEP and foreign partners such as: SK, KNOC (Korea) and Perenco (France).

Brown Lion project is the sixth one of Cuu Long JOC after Southwest Black Lion, Gold Lion, Northeast Black Lion, White Lion, Northeast Gold Lion.

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai acknowledged the efforts of Cuu Long JOC in exploration and putting into operation a new oil mine more. The 16 year action achievements of Cuu Long JOC have taken a very part in fulfilling the annual production and business plans of PVEP in particular and PetroVietnam in general.

Mr. Do Van Khanh, PVEP General Director informed the success of this project will open up a great prospect for practical application in the development of small and marginal mines in the Cuu Long basin and in other areas of Vietnam in future. It also continues to affirm the ability and key role of Vietnamese engineers, cadres in holding and mastering the mining development projects from planning to implementing the relative work items.

For PVEP, this is the seventh among 9 new projects that planned to be put into operation in 2014.
